5. The little things.
Sometimes, it is the little things that count. It is easy to stop doing these in a relationship. Remember when he would randomly bring you flowers and how that made you feel? Or when you would cook him his favorite dinner just because? Try to be more intentional about doing those little things again.
Leave a sweet note on his car or for the more daring put a pair of panties in his brief case. One little spark, could ignite a huge fire. Chances are he will do the same for you. Most of all, remember to actually say “I love you.”
6. Holding hands.
In many waning relationships, one of the first things to go is intimacy. You used to hold hands and cuddle all the time, but now you just kind of walk next to each other and you sit on opposite sides of the couch. Want to rekindle that love? Focus on physical affection.
Studies have shown that physical contact can reduce stress and release endorphins. Sometimes, a hug can make all the difference in the world. A kiss can make a bad day good. Be sure to show that person that you love them by your affections, not just your words.
7. Be selfless.
Some relationships can suffer because of selfishness. The best way to keep a relationship healthy is if you are more concerned with the other person than yourself. Imagine if your husband cleaned the kitchen, washed all the clothes and put the kids to bed with out being asked. Wouldn’t that change how you felt at that moment? This is one of the best ways to show love. When you put someone above yourself, it will not go unnoticed. And in return they will do the same for you.
8. Spontaneity.
Do you feel like your relationship is getting boring? Do you feel like the excitement has slowly gone away? Try adding some spontaneity into your relationship! When you get into too many routines, things can get boring. And when things get boring, there can be some resentment.
Try to spice things up with some spontaneous trips or sinful pleasures! If you normally do dinner and watch movies with kids every Friday night, try getting a baby sitter for the night, but don’t tell him. Then go to a nice dinner and rent a hotel for the night. Doing this will create fun experiences that turn into treasured memories—and who knows, it could even save your relationship!
A healthy relationship takes a lot of work from both parties. However, someone has to take make the first move. Make an effort and do one small thing today that is sure to shock him and see where that goes. Chances are things will get better!
