Lindenhurst resident Ronica Copes didn’t think anything was particularly strange when she retrieved the mail from her mailbox on Thursday.
When she found a letter from the alias “the community” figured it was a newsletter of some kind. When Ronica opened the letter she was shocked.

Ronica posted this image of the letter on her Facebook page where it was seen by Steve Bellone, a county executive, responded with this statement:
“To the coward who committed a hate crime against an innocent family in Lindenhurst — There is no place for intolerance in Suffolk County. I know the Suffolk County Police Department will do everything possible to solve this hate crime, out you and see you punished. I stand together with all Lindenhurst residents who decry this act of hatred. This community and all of Suffolk County are better than that.”
How about the final sentence? “Sorry if this is rude, but it’s the truth”… Oh, you’re sorry, anonymous racist?
How would your neighborhood respond to an incident like this?
